Pankaj Kumar, an 18 year old polio victim is studying in 12th standard in Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidhyalaya, Sector 11, Rohini.  He was just 10 months old when he had an attack of polio. As usual, he was taken to various places for the treatment but did not respond positively.   While he was in 10th standard, …….One day, when he was walking with the crutches in the community, the physiotherapist and the rehabilitation worker of ASRA spotted him and spoke to him.  They told him about ASRA’s rehabilitation programme.  The physiotherapist called him at the centre, assessed his problem and told him some of the exercises which he needed to follow regularly.  His family was contacted and were told to support him in his exercises at home.  Physiotherapist visited him regularly to guide him.   According to Pankaj, he has benefited a lot from the treatment. He has been able to shed his crutches and walks independently without any support.  Now he can even drive a car.  With help from ASRA, he has been able to get rail pass, bus pass, identity card, etc. made.   He has taken the responsibility of guiding other persons with disabilities to go to ASRA and take their guidance.
