The disabled Girls who are oppressed and discriminated against lack the opportunity to express themselves in family or society. Gender and disability stereotypical expectations diminish the opportunities to develop according to their potential.
ASRA strives to empower educable, trainable and employable young boys and girls with vocational and life skills. Life skills mean abilities for adaptive and positive behavior enabling a person to deal effectively with the challenges of everyday life.
Since 1996 ASRA has been conducting Computer courses. The courses are offered to students who have Physical disabilities and students from marginalised segment. Most of these students have one or the other form of orthopaedic/locomotor disability.
Our strategy is governed by the understanding that the targeted disadvantaged group is financially unable to pay for the cost of training.
Therefore all courses are essentially free, except for token fee to ensure a sense of ownership amongst students of the efforts that go to run the programme. This is based on the understanding that whatever is given free is of questionable value.
